Redmi, which is a sub-brand of Xiaomi, announced that Redmi 12 5G will be launched on 1st August, 2023(Tuesday) in India and globally. 

 Anticipation for the budget-friendly phone has been fueled by the company's active promotion on various social media platforms, and its specifications have already been disclosed since the phone made its debut last month.
The smartphone is confirmed to come with a "Crystal Glass Design" and Redmi's "biggest display" ever.

Redmi has revealed the handset's design and a few features via a dedicated landing page on its website. It has a curved display with a hole punch cutout in the centre, a crystal glass design, and a dual rear camera unit. It is said to have the largest display on a Redmi phone.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer also announced the launch of Redmi 12 4G along with it's 5G counterpart. But, in this article, we will talk about only Redmi 12 5G.

Features of Redmi 12 5G:-



1) Display

The Redmi 12 5G comes with a large 6.79 inch IPS LCD full-HD+ display has a punch-hole chin and slim bezels on three sides, except for the bottom one. It has the largest display among all redmi smartphones. It has 1080 x 2460 pixels screen resolution, 396 ppi pixel density, 20:09 aspect ratio, 91% screen to body ratio, 90 Hz screen refresh rate for smooth scrolling and enhanced visuals. It's peak brightness of 550 nits. It also comes with Gorilla Glass 3 as screen protection.


2) Camera


At first, let's talk about it's rear cameras.
This redmi smartphone has dual camera setup on it's rear side.

It has a 50 megapixel primary camera and a 2 megapixel macro camera on the rear side for excellent photography.  The rear camera supports 1920x1080 @ 30 fps, 1280x720 @ 30 fps video recording.

The rear camera has features like Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus. There's also a LED flash on the rear side.


On the front side, there's a single 8 megapixel camera front camera in the center-aligned punch-hole slot enables stunning selfies and video calls. It record videos at 1920x1080 @ 30 fps, 1280x720 @ 30 fps.




3) Performance 


This smartphone is powered by an Qualcomm SM4375 Snapdragon 4 Gen 2
(4nm) chipset, supported by Andreno 613 GPU, Octa core (2x2.2 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6x Cortex-A55) CPU with 2.2Hz clock speed which  uses 64 bit Architecture and with up to 4GB of RAM delivers excellent performance and smooth multitasking capabilities at the same time.

Redmi 12 (5G) runs on Android v13 which is supported by it's 5000mAh . 
non-removable battery. It has MIUI 14 as custom user interface.




4) Memory and Storage 


This smartphone has three different variants when it comes to memory and storage.  It has LPDDR4X type RAM and UFS 2.2 type storage.

The first variant comes with 4GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage.

The second one has 6GB RAM with 128 GB internal storage.

And, the third variant is equipped with 8GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage.

Every variant's internal storage is expendable and expendable up to 1 TB.

Redmi 12 5G is backed by 5000 mAh Li-polymer battery .  It comes with 18W fast charging support along with USB OTG support and USB type-C charger.

This smartphone supports Bluetooth v5. 3,A2DP, LE and the device comes with a Hi-Res Audio Certified dedicated 3.5 mm audio jack that can be used with your wired headphones.

In the case of Wi-Fi, this device supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) 5GHz. 



The other features, that this device has, Are Light sensor, Accelerometer, Compass. It also has a fingerprint scanner, on it's side.

Let's talk about its colour variants. It has three colour option Moonstone Silver, Jade Black and Pastel Blue.


Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G price in India starts at Rs. 10,999 for the base 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The mid-variant comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs. 12,499, while the high-end variant of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs. 14,999.  Consumers can purchase the smartphone from the official Redmi website, Amazon, Flipkart, and Xiaomi partner retail stores.
